NOW: STILL HERE – LYDIA GOLDBLATT

22/05/2014 – 26/07/2014

Goldblatt’s series, Still Here (2010 – 2013), takes as its point of departure the family home, focusing on the transitional experience of the artist’s parents as they age. The work stems from a desire to address the inevitable changes wrought by her elderly father’s approaching death.

MAZY WAY or A LUDDITE’S HEIGHT – JAMIE & RICKIE MCNEILL

12/03/2013 – 17/05/2014

Jamie and Rickie McNeill’s art works have been variously described as copies of worm casts, measurements founded in the megalithic inch, water time signals, and everything in between. Misreadings aside, what’s most apparent – even from the most cursory glance at their ‘stuff’ – is the palpable sense of two brothers from Strathclyde quietly and consanguineously going about their business (of Art).

PORTRAIT SALON

10/01/2014 – 08/03/2014

We’re opening Fuse Art Space with a bang on January 10th, as we invite Portrait Salon to christen our walls! Portrait Salon is a form of Salon des Refusés – an exhibition of works rejected from a juried art show – which has a long tradition as a fringe way of showcasing artists’ work that may otherwise go unseen. Devised by Carole Evans and James O Jenkins, Portrait Salon aims to show the best of the unselected entries from the annual National Portrait Gallery Photographic Portrait Prize.

About Us

Fuse Art Space is a gallery, art space, performance venue and shop in Bradford city centre. We host exhibitions, artist talks, film screenings, workshops and performances, and we stock a wide range of art books, magazines (fancy ones, glossy ones, DIY ones, photocopied ones), prints, cassettes, vinyl, CD’s and other objects of artistic merit. In the shop, we keep the quality high and the prices low; mainly to make sure people have reasonable access to great stuff. As far as our exhibitions go, they’re always free. All exhibitions are curated by Sarah Faraday.

We’re open from Wednesday to Saturday, 11:00 – 18:00, and other times for special events – keep your eye on the events section, or even better subscribe to our mailing list to stay up to date. We have regular in-stores and signings by artists and performers, and sometimes we might need to operate an RSVP system, so don’t miss out.

We gratefully acknowledge the support and assistance of Arts Council England, Fabric, Bradford City Council, Image Group UK, W Madden Building and Timber Supplies, and Little Valley Brewery.
